GSSV Hosts Annual Event

Third grade students from seven feeder divisions travel down the chocolate river into Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory

On October 17, 2017, the Governor's School of Southside Virginia led third grade students from seven feeder divisions down the chocolate river into Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory.

There was an assortment of colorful, fun, and interesting hands-on booths that everyone could enjoy. These booths included educational activities that were coordinated with the third grade Standards of Learning. Some booths were The Blueberry Roll, Save Augustus, Nutty Machines, Candy Matters, Ticket Probability, and Disappearing Candy.

At each booth, the GSSV students were all in costume, representing all the unforgettable characters of Willy Wonka’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Ronald Dahl.

This interdisciplinary event was instructional and entertaining and provided students and teachers with a fun way to master the SOLs.
